TLPA Spring Conference & Expo
Heads to New Orleans
The Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association’s (TLPA) much-anticipated Spring Conference & Expo heads to The Big Easy from May 6-8, 2012. TLPA will convene at the DoubleTree by Hilton New Orleans, located on Canal Street in the heart of the city’s famous French Quarter.
TLPA President Mary Smarelli says this year’s conference is expected to be well attended and attendees are urged to make their travel plans now, especially considering that the event begins the day after the close of the New Orleans Jazz Festival, one of the busiest times of the year for the city. Participants are advised to book hotel rooms early.
The conference will take place over three days, featuring concurrent breakout sessions for all divisions: taxicab, paratransit, and limousines. Some topics on the agenda include distracted driving issues and resolutions and grant writing for the paratransit sector. The focus of the limousine session will provide a hotel manager’s view of livery operators, as well as tips for quality control. The open meeting of the Limousine Steering Committee will be held May 7, and the open TLPA board of directors meeting will be May 8, where the board will discuss the legislative agenda, review its strategic plan, and propose future meeting sites, among others.
The TLPA has sold all floor displays in the expo hall, but some table top displays may still be available for vendors whose innovative products and services will benefit for-hire transportation fleet owners and managers.
